Situated on what was once an underutilized parking lot on environmentally remediated land in Brooklyn’s East New York neighborhood, ELH and its partners developed Stanley Commons in response to a joint RFP by NYCHA and HPD. The project opened for occupancy in 2018.

Inspired by the rich heritage of Coney Island and designed to fit seamlessly into the surrounding neighborhood, Coney Island Commons combines affordability, sustainability and community space to create an award-winning, environmentally-responsible project.
The Bronx, NY
A neighborhood within a neighborhood, La Central is a five-building, multi-phase 1.2 million square foot development slated to transform a large expanse of vacant land into much-needed quality affordable housing. When complete, the project will bring 992 homes, 80,000 square feet of community facility space, 45,000 square feet of retail, a public skatepark, a roof-mounted telescope and astronomy lab operated by the Bronx High School of Science and a diversity of new outdoor spaces to the South Bronx.

From the South Bronx to the Supreme Court, Judge Sonia Sotomayor has lived the American dream. As a child, the future Supreme Court Justice was raised in public housing by her mother Celina Báez, a nurse and single-parent, who instilled in her children a love of reading and learning. Ms. Báez’s extraordinary commitment to her children and her community serves as the inspiration behind Casa Celina, a new affordable housing complex designed for lower income older adults and named in her honor.

An individually designated New York City landmark, The Imperial Apartments is a Renaissance-style residential building featuring fluted columns, outsized turrets and bold, triple-height brick and terracotta archways that sits at the corner of Pacific Street and Bedford Avenues in Crown Heights.

An individually designated New York City landmark, 96 Brooklyn Avenue is a three-story Queen Anne-style residential building that was once home to two of the earliest residents of Crown Heights. After falling into a state of disrepair, ELH was chosen to spearhead the renovation and preservation of the property so that it could reopen as affordable housing for low- and moderate-income New Yorkers.

In 2024, ELH and Tredway partnered to acquire to preserve high-quality, high-opportunity housing in the popular Brooklyn’s neighborhood of Fort Greene. Concurrent with the acquisition, the affordability of all 193 homes in the portfolio was extended another 40 years, ensuring they remain available to serve low-income households earning no more than 50 percent of area median income. An additional 30 percent of the homes will be reserved for formerly homeless individuals and families.
